TRANSIT RECOMMENDATIONS

1. Improve transit transfers

THE RECOMMENDATION:

  • Unify and consolidate BRT and local transit stops to reduce walking distance from transfer
  • Improve access and connectivity on HWY 99 and 228th:
    • Consider a shuttle/transit service from HWY 99 to the Mountlake Terrace regional transit center
    • Consider a consolidated transit stop at 228th
    • Consider a new BRT station
    • Provide clear signage
    • Provide high-quality bike connection on 228th

HWY 99 and 228th will be a key intersection

The intersection improvements completed in May 2016 provide a key connection to the future regional rail in Mountlake Terrace and I-5. The new signalized intersection provides safer left turns, bike lanes, safe pedestrian crossings, lighting, sidewalks, and stormwater management.

2. Incentivize alternative transportation options

THE RECOMMENDATION:

  • Ride sharing services such as Uber and Lyft
  • Electric car charging stations
  • Car Share and Bike Share
  • Incentives: Impact fee reductions and parking requirement offsets for providing dedicated on-site parking stalls
